Applying for a grant

Guidelines to Applicants

1. Currently Phoenix Zimbabwe funds placements and vocational training to help Zimbabwean exiles, mainly in the UK, gain practical skills likely to help them contribute to rebuilding the economy and institutions of their country once they are able to return home.

2. Most grants will be for fees payable to an institution, i.e. a college, rather than directly to the individual but costs of the individual's subsistence, e.g. travel and out of pocket expenses, may also be payable.

3. Grants will normally cover placements and training for periods to a maximum of six months.

4. Phoenix Zimbabwe does not usually support the costs of degrees and postgraduate courses.

5. Applicants should enclose with their application a photocopy of their passport or of any official documents defining their nationality and immigration status, even where an asylum claim has been unsuccessful.

6. Beneficiaries must send a written report to trustees within sic weeks of completing of their course or placement.

7. Before grants are released successful applicants will be expected to sign a Letter of Intent confirming their intention to return to Zimbabwe within three years.
